Many of our Monmouth County beach portraits are of extended families. Grandparents, children, and grandchildren are all together and decide to have a beach portrait taken. The best time for Monmouth County beach portraits is one hour before sunset. The time, of course, varies depending upon the month. The reason for this is so the sun doesn’t blast into your eyes, making for squinty images. Lighting is just as important as the expression on your face and the clothes you wear.
Early July 7:30 pm is the best time for family portraits. However, the end of August start time is 6:30 pm. If you are an early bird, sunrise is also a great option. Furthermore, over Rob’s twenty years of being a Monmouth County beach photographer, everyone always enjoys the sunrise sessions. It’s a peaceful time to be on the beach. Since it’s early, there a good chance that your group will be the only ones on the beach. There is something about the calmness that early in the morning. If you are lucky, you’ll see the dolphins swimming in packs.
