Family Portraits On LBI

Since I’ve been photographing family portraits on LBI for around twenty years, I’ve decided to write a blog post showcasing some of the beach portraits that I’ve taken there. LBI is one of those beach towns that are very special to people. It’s always fun to listen to the grandparents explain how they use to visit Long Beach Island when they were kids with their parents. Talking about how much the Island changed even though it’s still the same feel.

Unlike many other beach towns, the residents and yearly renters are bonded to their particular beach. They want their family portrait taken to the beach they’ve been out for years and years. I love the fact that their beach is important to them, that is why I always meet them out at their house, and we photograph their family on their special beach.

Unlike many years ago, the beach on LBI is much wider than ever in most of the towns. As a result, it’s critical to start one hour before sunset at the earliest. In years past, when the beach was narrow, the sun would get blocked by the homes and create a shadow so my clients could start early without having the sun-blasted in their eyes. This has mostly changed; however, there are some areas where the beach is rather narrow. A lot has changed since I first started to be a Long Beach Island Photographer

Family Portraits On LBI On the Bayside.

Many of our families choose to have their family portraits taken on the bay. Some of these families happen to rent or live on the bayside, or they belong to a Yacht club on that side of the Island. The bay is a beautiful option for family portraits. Towards the end of the session, you get that golden sky full of colors mostly only seen on a pallet. Such as golds, magenta, deep reds, purple, and other beautiful tones that make for a spectacular backdrop. With these LBI beach sessions, the last twenty minutes of last light is when the magic happens.
